Shire of Busselton Go Green!!!
|
Date:
15 Oct 2006
The Shire of Busselton in Perth Western Australia has recently taken possession of their first order of environmentally friendly "parking infringement" bags.
Manufactured from P.L.A. (poly lactic acid) which is derived from corn crops, they are 100% biodegradable and compostable. These benefits give them a major edge over the conventional plastic option as they adhere to standard EN13432 for compostability. Where as conventional plastic bags could take hundreds of years to break down, the environmentrally friendly bags can break down in 60 days in an ideal industrial composting environment. They will also degrade in a landfill environment, given the right conditions.
Congratulations to the Shire of Busselton. "First cab off the rank"
